This tex is designed for college-level introductory anthropology courses. It trats the basic divisions of anthropology-physical an cultural anthropology, including ethnology, linguistics, and prehistoric archeology-and presents the concepts andddd terminology germane to each. The aim of the tex to give the student a through introduction to the principles and processes of anthropology. BEcause it draws from the research and ideas of a number of schools of anthripological thought, the studen will be exposed to a mix of such approaches as evolutionism, historical particularism, diffusionism, functionalism, and others. This inclusiveness reflects my conviction that, while each of these approaches has importan things to say about human behavior, to restrict oneself to a particular approach is to cut oneself to a particular approach is to cut oneself off important insight.
